they are equally culpable. the nra has tried to convince us that video games are more dangerous than guns but study after study after study has shown that games don't have a direct impact on gun violence. the research psychologyist graham bell found that video games are not forms of violent behavior. . . . on the other hand, according to the harvard school of public health, numerous studies have found that the availability of guns directly impacts gun violence. now i can say plenty of other research but really? it's just common sense. video games while we should be discussing them they are not as much of a factor in gun violence as the ready availability of guns is. 224 years ago, america's founding fathers debated, including the bill of rights as a means to cement the birth of this great nation. they would be rolling over in their graves if they knew that legacy is now in the unworthy hands of industry lobbyists who are fighting over which special interest will get to profit most from selling their violent product. in the end it all coming down to money. joining u

the nra and representatives from the entertainment industry this evening. kathleen sebelius wills attend some of the meetings. it is a big step for president obama's new gun violence task force launched in the wake of the massacre at sandy hook elementary. but it did not necessarily leave many with high expectations. businesses that sell a lot of guns like walmart will also be in on some meetings. those groups are more likely to be influenced by the nra since they're making a big profit off those firearms. and they do not want to appear too entrenched in the white house's anti-gun push. >>> walmart says after the shooting, guns are now one of their highest-selling items. while it does want to help the administration, when that starts to contradict with sales that's where the help stops. the nra obviously has a lot of money and therefore a lot of power going into these talks but gabby giffords' new anti-gun group is looking to counteract that. she and her husband mark kelly kick started a campaign this week that they're calling common sense measures to curb gun violence. now, they're hopi

researching gun violence at all. the last time they did get funding the nra has one of the members of congress budget be cut by that amount. and the universal background checks for all gun sales. and that measure at least has brood public support. 85% of republicans support background checks. the vast majority. it might actually have a chance at passing. some of the other proposals from the president will face stiffer objection like the call to reinstate the assault weapon's ban. banning the kind of weapon that can blast a body a child's body to pieces that's important. and now there are brave voices calling for change. one mother from one of the victims in newtown submitted a list of proposals to the task force. when she buried her son a month ago she had an open-casket funeral, and he is invited the governor to attend. she wanted him to see the horror of these wounds. she said we all saw how beautiful he was. he had thick shiny hair. beautiful long eyelashes that rested on his cheeks. he looked like he was sleeping but the reality of it buzz under the cloth he

the wall here in a lot of respects. i am a longtime nra member. that does not demonize me, i hope. there is a definite political atrophy that says if you are a and are a member you do not have two and sells to rub together. the reality is that the president -- two brain cells to rub together. there have been a lot of terrific defense. the solving of this problem -- let me see if i can get this clear for you. this is peter, right? what i was pointing out is that in california we have a responsibility to make sure that every weapon is transferred. i was a firearms license dealer for 25 years so i know what i am talking about. the result of that is -- you brought up the gun show loophole, which is important. people in other states can go and buy weapons in virginia, but it in the back of their car and take it across to pennsylvania. i was watching c-span earlier this morning. the mayor of philadelphia said they have guns were the criminals are renting guns they have bought in virginia. it is very important which has not been addressed, if you are going to register firearms, it has to

as the vice president met with the nra at the white house as part of his gun task force. >> a teacher at that high school is being called a hero to convince the 16-year-old shooter to put down the gun. it happened a couple of hours north of los angeles. a neighbor noticed the boy walking into the school and called 911. the boy shot one classmate, and missed another before the teacher talked him down. that teacher actually got hit in the head with one of the pellets. police arrested him. he apparently stole the shotgun from his brother and reportedly was suspended last year for making a hit list of targets. there is supposed to be an armed guard at the school, but he was late after getting stuck in the snow. >>> to the vice president's gun task force, later today he's meeting with video game executives. yesterday he met with the nra and that didn't go so well. the gun lobby blasted biden saying it will defend second amendment rights to own guns. biden confirmed he won't wait until the end of the month and wants background checks for every gun purchased without exception. >> universal b
